UZBEK CUSTOMS AND TRADITION

In the older days, however among the people of the Orient including the Uzbeks hospitality was a must in terms of life standards and morality. On setting out a journey travelers often found himself in hostile environment of nature. To turn somebody down or to give him bad reception which conflicts with the traditions, meant to disgrace the family, village, and clan. The tradition ordered to be hospitable even to an enemy. Not without reason the old ancient saying states: Hospitality is rated higher than coverage. Nowadays the principles of hospitality turned into good and useful traditionas that help people in their contacts and behaviour. It is better to come in time than to come early, he invites somebody to dinner should take care about night accomodation too. To turn down invitation to lunch or dinner or to be late for the one is considered to be rather impolite. Usually guests arrive with souvenirs for the hosts and sweets for children.Specific role in the life of Uzbeks is given to the customs connected with the birth and upbringing of children, marriage and commemoration of deceased relatives wedding in the life of Uzbeks is great signifacance and is celebrated with a special solumnity. It consists of a number of ceremonies that should be performed without failure. Two hundred or three hundred guests at the wedding party is considered to be a typical phenomena.

Speaking English in Uzbek Culture

For Uzbek students it is challenging for them to carry on a regular conversation. For example now a lot of students are going to study abroad and they communicate with foreign students, try to explain what they thinking and feeling. But they speak with Russian accent. It still shows its influence when we speaking. Uzbekistan have plenty of opportunities to practice their language skills with native speakers of English language.
Indeed a lot of students leaving their schools and universities need to communicate in English in real life situations and often their language expression is full of misunderstanding and misinterpretation. English language study often doesn't enable its graduates sustain an effective dialogue with native speakers of English. One can think that a good knowledge of grammar and vocabulary is all that's needed for successful dialogue.
Foreign language learners are interculturally competent and are knowledgeable about the culture of the target language and they are able to communicate effectively and appropriately. Some teachers believe that only free language practice with native speakers or immersion into the cultural environment will help. That may be true but clearly not everyone has such an opportunity and even provided that one has, why not help him/her be more culturally sensitive in order to successfully communicate in a foreign culture.

Deliver Your Speech

Your voice is one of the important tool in public speaking. The volume of your voice is should be controlled. When you speak your voice mustn't be too soft or too loud. Because when you speak in too soft voice the listeners need strain to hear and they easily tire of listening. And in too loud voice you seem to listeners very rude and angry. So you have to speak in medium and normal voice.
Your Speaking also depends on speech rate. Average is 140 words per minute. If you talk too fast listener can't catch your words properly as well as they willn't satisfy from your speaking. Talking too slow bored listeners easily. Speaking at pace give time to listeners to catch your words. And they also give more attention to you.
You should also pronounce all words properly that they understand what you are saying besides that it is clear.

High and Lower Distances

In high-power distance cultures you have to great respect for authority, people think about authority as desirable, beneficial and generally they don't like critisizm, challenges for themselves. In high-power culture titles are more important. Failure for these honorifics is shame. We can include: Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Philippines, The Arab world, Iraq, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, Venezuala, Ecuador for this culture.
In low-power distance culture everybody is equal. In this culture people say everything clearly and firmly that you understand obviously. Attitudes toward authority can be direct and right. For example in low power-distance students show their knowledge, command of the subject, participate in discussion with teacher. There is less problem if you don't use respectful title. And we can include: Austria, Israel, Denmark, New Zealend, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, and Costa-Rica.

The Rudiment of leadership.

A leader is the best servant as the rudiment of leadership
entails that a leader must first be a follower or server(servant)
to be at the top of his or her game, thereby, carrying everyone along.

Here is a a leadership quote which I really like:
Do not follow where the path may lead.
Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
Harold R. McAlindon

Problem Solvers and Problem Givers....(lol)

The decision of who to be in a group is a decision not to be make in haste because it determines the development of the task that is before the group.

There are two different types of groupsss:

Problem solvers: They are different individuals brought together for particular task at a particular period of time. In this group are some people called "THE PROBLEM GIVERS".

It is ironic that problem givers are found in problem solving groups and this will definetly determine the rate at which decisions are made in such a group.
It is worthy to know that conflict or difference in opinion is bound to arise in any group, Therefore, initiator of problem solving group should take strong steps to seeing that this group regardless of different individuals and opinions(problem givers), remain effective and efficient.

.........Thank you

leader

if there are a group,

then it must also have a leader in every group..

leader must have
-power
-responibility
-understanding
-respect
-patience

there are some LEADERSHIP STYLTE :

  • telling(tell menbers the step what to do)
  • selling(direct and support members)
  • participating(supporting)
  • delegating(let the member do what they want them to do)

Small Group Online

Small groups use a wide variety of channels. Usually it occurs face-to-face. Nowadays group interaction takes place in online. Online groups serve both relationship or social purposes. Besides that online groups are more task and more efficient than face-to-face groups. Two major types of online groups: the mailing-list group and the chat group.

Mailing-list is communication between one another through e-mail. Communication through mailing lists doesn't take place in real time. It's like regular e-mail, for example when you send your email today, but it mayn't read until next week and also you mayn't get answer for another week. You can be enthuastic about your topic when you send your email, but by the time someone reply.

Chat group is takes place in real time. You see and you hear member's message as it's being sent with virtually. Chat groups can maintain connection with others. Communication in chat group resembles the conversation. Chat groups notify when someone new comes into group and someone leaves the group. Chat groups have advantage that you enable to communicate with people you never meet or interact with otherwise. These kind of groups are international, provide excellent exposure to other cultures, other ideas.

negative conflict OR positive conflict?

Conflict is the disagreement between connected individuals.
Conflict can be positive or negative.
Thus, it is important to recognize that the conflict is either positive or negative.

The majority of conflict is negative. Why i said so?
This is because many conflict involve unfair and unjustice fighting method and hurting the other person.
When negative conflict is happened, relationship between each other might affected. This scenario will become more difficult to resolve and will affect the work especially for coworkers.

However, there is also positive conflict.
When the conflict is positive, it force us to examine the problem and work to a potential solution.
Besides that, positive conflict also make someone to be more confident ,more active and more stronger when confront to some problem.

As a result, we must manage the conflict rationally to avoid something badly happened that will affect each other.

Principle of dialogue

Dialogue is a form of conversation between 2 person, either speaker and listener , or sender and receiver.

In our daily life, we usually use dialogue to communicate with each other.
For example, we promote and introduce things to our customers, we talk to our father/mother and etc...

The objective of dialogue is mutual understanding and empathy.
So, when we talk, we must respect for the other person, and let him/her to talk/give opinion. We should not keep on talking and don't give a chance to the other person to talk.

Besides that, when we are in dialogue, we must focus on the speaker and show interesting on the speaker's talking title. This scenario not only show respect, but also show empathy.

To conclude, respect and empathy are the important point of the principle of dialogue.
